A Petition Has Been Filed for Quentin Tarantino to Direct 'Deadpool 2'
Do you think Tarantino is the right fit?
Following news that Deadpool director Tim Miller had left the sequel due to "creative differences," a petition has been filed urging Fox to hire Quentin Tarantino to direct Deadpool 2.
The second iteration of February's Deadpool hit a snag on Friday when, according to Deadline, Miller exited the project after "a series of creative differences" with producer and "Merc with a Mouth" himself Ryan Reynolds. Miller directed the first film in the franchise, contributing heavily to its quirky vibe.
While Miller hadn't signed any documents committing to his involvement in the movie, the site reports he was working on the script and had every intention of reprising his directing role.
Now, a petition filed on Change.org is calling for Pulp Fiction director Tarantino to take Miller's place.
As of Tuesday, the petition had garnered more than 10,000 signatures.
"Quentin Tarantino is the master of writing dialogue, and Ryan Reynolds is a master of delivering dialogue," the petition states. "Tarantino makes ultra-violent movies where you love the characters, with horrible language, sexy women, and a villain you will NEVER forget. Tell me Marvel doesn't need another one of those. Why haven't you signed yet????"
Tarantino, responsible for such iconic gems as Inglorious Basterds, the Kill Bill franchise, and most recently, The Hateful Eight, has committed to retiring after his 10th film project. He currently sits at eight.
Let's all be real here, this probably isn't going to happen. Still, Tarantino's involvement sure would make for a great film.
